Seattle will forfeit its 2017 fifth-round draft choice due to violating the NFL’s rule against “on-field physical contact” during an organized team activity in June.

Coach Pete Carroll has also been fined $200,000, while the Seahawks will forfeit the first week of next season’s organised team activities, which covers three days in total.
The disciplinary action stems from a live practice video on June 6 that was reviewed independently by the league and NFL Players Association. Wentz providing hope for Phi.
Seahawks fined $400,000 for excessive off-season workouts and Pete Carroll fined $200,00 for it.
The rule limits contact during offseason workouts and is meant to improve player safety by ensuring that no player is subjected to excessively powerful hits, as well as ensuring no team gains an unfair advantage over the rest of the league by starting contact drills early. The rules also help to prevent any team from gaining a competitive advantage.
For the third time since 2012, the Seattle Seahawks have been penalized for violating the National Football League and NFLPA’s rules forbidding excessive contact in offseason workouts.
The decision to impose discipline was made after the National Football League and NFLPA independently reviewed the Seahawks’ June 6, 2016 on-field practice video and agreed that the club had violated the “no-live-contact” rule, as set forth in Article 21, Section 2 (b)(iii), Section 5 (a) and Appendix G of the CBA.
At the very least it will hurt them more if they’re caught by the league in the future.

The Seahawks will now have to acquire a fifth-round pick if they want to participate during that particular round next year, although the team could still receive a potential compensatory selection after losing players to free agency. The Seahawks have done pretty well in that round.
