Seahawks place RB Thomas Rawls on injured reserve

First was the abdominal surgery that put Marshawn Lynch on the bench.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll spoke to the media Monday afternoon. “Just exemplifies what we’re all about, toughness and hard-nosed and committed and grit and all that stuff”. “We understand and we love those guys, but that’s not where the focus goes”. Not efficient (only 3.4 yards per carry), but they still rushed for 123 yards, and it’ll be interesting to see whether Lynch suddenly comes back from his abdomen injury now that Rawls isn’t going to play anymore this season. However, he ended up rolling his ankle and was quickly ruled out of the game.

Veteran Fred Jackson who is a good friend of Marshawn Lynch is on the Seahawks roster but he is up in years and kind of injury prone as well. The knee simply refuses to jerk to a hasty prediction of imminent doom for the Seattle Seahawks.

An undrafted rookie, Rawls finishes the season with 830 yards and four touchdowns. “Carroll said there will be competition between Brown and Harris to feature on first and second down, with the possibility of fullback Derrick Coleman also being in the mix”. He brought up rookie third-rounder Carl Davis filling the void that has been created with defensive end Chris Canty’s season-ending torn pectoral.

“That’s a great defense we just played”, Clausen said.

“We won’t know until the work starts happening”, he said.

“We moved the ball but once we got down in the red zone we couldn’t score and just didn’t make enough big plays”, Clausen said. Jackson may not be as quick as he once was, but he is an adept pass blocker and receiver, so he adds an extra dynamic to the running back position.

With home games against Cleveland and St. Louis upcoming the next two weeks, Seattle should be able to get by without a stellar rushing game.

Around this time, someone I know quite well even wrote of the Seahawks QB: “Russell Wilson … has [a] ring”.

Seattle poured further misery on the Ravens when Wilson and Baldwin connected for the third time in the match as the wideout beat his man to leave himself wide open in the endzone to collect the quarterback’s 16-yard pass.

The remaining schedule doesn’t create an urgency for a quick return by Lynch.

Carroll said Lynch will be “rehabbing off-site until he’s ready to start practicing”.

Russell Wilson threw for five touchdowns and 292 yards in 23 for 32 passes. Wilson’s 44 career wins is already tied for the most ever by a quarterback through four seasons. Tight end Luke Willson suffered bruised ribs Sunday. But toss them into the No. 1 rushing offense in the National Football League and maybe even an off-brand back can flourish.

Rawls was somber as he walked towards the locker room waving to the crowd possibly for the last time this season. Harris finished with 18 carries on Sunday, but averaged just 2.3 yards per attempt. In his past three games he has thrown for three touchdowns each, according to the NFL.

And he’s done most of it without needing to run for safety and scrambling from the pass rush.
