Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch could have abdominal surgery this week

Lynch’s only Lynch-like game – 122 yards rushing in San Francisco (Week 7) – looked pedestrian in contrast to what Rawls did against the same 49ers.

“I got the feeling, and again watching the tape, I use the term, ‘Don’t play not to make a mistake and don’t tackle being afraid to miss the tackle, ‘” Tomsula said. “But little did he know, I’m not going out of bounds”. I try to play until I can’t.

It was Rawls’ third 100-yard game of the season.

Baldwin caught 6 passes for 60 yards on Sunday against the 49ers and he’s now tied for the Seahawks team lead in receptions (44) with tight end Jimmy Graham.

Rawls became just the third running back in Seahawks history to top 200 yards in a game and trailed only Shaun Alexander’s 266-yard game in 2001 in franchise history. “To see a young guy come through and be so physical and so tough and to make the most of an opportunity”.

Do the Seahawks really part ways with a player who has meant so much to their great success and has clearly been one of the best backs of his era?

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Lynch is seeing a specialist in regards to his abdomen injury which could end up being diagnosed as a sports hernia and will require surgery.

“Look, youngun’, I’m going to pass you the torch for the day, ” Lynch told Rawls prior to the game.

If Lynch ends up missing the rest of the season because of his abdominal injury, it likely will be the end of his time in in Seattle and the NFL.

Lynch, who turns 30 in April, is owed $9 million next season. They kind of ignored Rawls after the last time he went off before Lynch came back from an injury, and they struggled. He previously missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a hamstring issue and was limited in Week 10 with the abdominal injury. Earlier this season, I remember trying to interview him in the locker room.

The line played well Sunday – giving Rawls about four yards per carry before contact – and the powerful speedster added about three more on his own (he already was averaging a league-best 2.73 yards after contact, per ESPN Stats & Info).

“It could happen. I don’t know that”. “It’s legitimately bothering him”.

Though the linemen usually insist they have shrugged off the talk, coach Pete Carroll said with a hint of sarcasm Monday that all of the discussion has left “a subtle impression”. “That’s why they treat you”. They’re going to treat him back there. It wasn’t an accident that Rawls’ dazzling, two-touchdown performance helped set up the team’s other dynamic offensive rookie – wide receiver Tyler Lockett – to score twice on Russell Wilson strikes. His 82.8 completion percentage is a career-high.

Coach Jim Tomsula has no regrets about punting the ball away late in the fourth quarter while the 49ers required two touchdowns and two two-point conversions to tie the game.
