Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch expected back Sunday vs. Panthers

Cincinnati was flagged 7 times for 50 yards. But it should be noted he only started four games in 2013.

In Lynch’s stead the Seahawks have handed the ball to backup Thomas Rawls, an undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan, who has responded by averaging 5.6 yards per carry and eclipsing the 100-yard mark in two of Seattle’s last three games.

The Bengals turned tiger.

-After a putrid showing the previous week against the Detroit Lions, the Seahawks offensive line showed significant signs of improvement in Cincinnati.

FALCONS 25, WASHINGTON 19: Robert Alford returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown, giving Atlanta (5-0) an overtime win against visiting Washington (2-3).

-Quarterback Andy Dalton flipped the script in Sunday’s game and did so in fewer than 15 minutes.

But it wasn’t enough, as the Bengals shifted from their big-play mode early in the game to dinking and dunking down the field and converting in the red zone. Seattle had not surrendered a 17-point lead since 2004. Both carries were in short yardage situations.

Through three quarters, the biggest offensive mistake came when Wilson threw an interception in the third quarter when he tried to force a pass to Jimmy Graham in double-coverage.

After the Lions lost every game seven years ago, they drafted Stafford No. 1 overall out of Georgia, ignoring questions about his inability to throw accurately. Seattle almost doubled the rushing yards of the Bengals, but Cincinnati out-threw the Hawks by 113 yards. “I told you guys, ‘This is what we’re built for”. We came out and played, really, our best football for the most part, and then they captured the momentum and the energy they needed to finish the game off, and we didn’t. “Still, Carroll is convinced that the Seahawks, at 2-3, are playing better than when the team was struggling with a 3-3 start last season. It just showed the resilience of this team”.

So why was Rawls on the sideline – looking curiously ready but idle, helmet on -during the Seahawks’ first, fruitless drive of overtime? You might hear about a defense that’s been sacking the opponent’s quarterback or a run game scoring touchdowns or did you hear about the A.J. Green game in Baltimore?

The numbers show that this week’s game against the Carolina Panthers might be as pivotal as any the Seattle Seahawks will play this season.

The Seattle Seahawks, despite being 2-3 after losing a heartbreaker 27-24 to the Bengals in overtime in Cincinnati, are not bad. Rawls busted a 69-yard TD run.

The Seahawks squandered a 17-point 4th quarter lead against Cincinnati, matching the largest collapse in franchise history. “It takes four quarters”.

“It’s not just one thing”.

Trailing 24-7, it seemed Seattle was in control, except this Dalton Gang fought back.

The defence held, Dalton drove downfield again, diving through on a six-yard keeper to cut the deficit to 24-21.

“It’s huge. We played a really good team”, said Dalton after orchestrating the game-winning drive in OT.

A Geno Atkins tackle on a Wilson scramble forced another punt. The Bengals scored 17 points on their three fourth-quarter possessions, getting the tying field goal on the final play of regulation to force overtime.

“No matter how many times I look at this I can’t get the end to change”, Carroll said Monday.
