Seahawks vs. Rams: Score, Stats & Highlights

I do not want to beat around the bush with Seattle Seahawks offense going into week 2. Seattle lost twice to the Rams last season when the team was still located in St. Louis, and now Wilson is dealing with an ankle injury. Here’s the hope for the Rams: last December, they went up to Seattle, forced three turnovers – and scored a touchdown on a fumble return – held the Seahawks to 59 rushing yards and won 23-17. They need to get healthy, and they need to figure out how to execute better offensively in the weeks ahead.

Rams safety T.J. McDonald swatted Russell Wilson’s third-down pass attempt, and the Seahawks punted.

The Seattle Seahawks travels to City of Angeles to take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon in what will be the first home game for the LA Rams in their new home city.

Then they’ll need to keep Wilson in the pocket and prevent him from breaking long runs against the Rams’ nickel defense.

While Los Angeles was unable to find the end zone through the first three-quarters of the game, Keenum was still the signal caller.

And while Wilson may not be 100 percent, another body part could loom just as large for the Seahawks against the Rams – their collective head.

The Seahawks once again linked arms for the national anthem on Sunday, the second straight game the players, coaches and staff did so. That Rams team still rallied for two road playoff wins to make the franchise’s only Super Bowl during its Southern California era. By contrast, the Rams’ Jeff Fisher has made the playoffs six times in 21 seasons. The Rams never gave up any back-breaking big plays. Wilson certainly can’t afford to take too many unnecessary sacks against Los Angeles, especially with a tender ankle, and also will need to avoid throwing a costly interception at the wrong time that could swing field position in the favor of the home team. The Hall of Fame running back still lives nearby, and he was an early advocate of the Rams’ return.

There’s no tangible reason to believe the Rams should win this game. except that they beat the Seahawks twice past year, and who saw that coming?

The sprain, suffered in the third quarter of the Seahawks’ Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins, could compromise the mobile quarterback’s movement. Gurley was able find some success against Seattle’s defense in the Rams’ second meeting with the Seahawks previous year, as he rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. They ended the game failing to score a point on their final eight possessions.
