Sean Spicer Won’t Call Immigration Order A ‘Ban,’ But Preisdent Trump Will

Fourteen months ago, Trump put out a statement which was titled: “Donald J. Trump Statement On Preventing Muslim Immigration”.

Mr. Spicer talked about the president’s first week in office and the news cycles dominated by his ban on visitors from seven primarily Muslim nations, the Inauguration crowd size and shakeups on National Security Council membership.

Spicer had to own up to the fact that the White House allowed people to believe that Judge Thomas Hardiman was coming to D.C. ahead of the big announcement regarding Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court nomination. “He wasn’t very specific about what he was going to do – it was a listening session, which I think was very good”.

The draft order seeks the administration to “consider ways to make the process of allocating visas more efficient and ensure that beneficiaries of the programmes are the best and the brightest”. From day one, terms such as “fake news” and “alternative facts” have taken centre stage in the new administration and the billionaire has remained steadfastly in the headlines.

“You’re calling him a liar?”

Spicer has used the Skype seats to call on non-traditional journalists for questions, such as radio host Lars Larson, who referred to Spicer as “Commander Spicer”, a reference to Spicer’s service with the Navy Reserve.

The president has yet to wade far into the details of policies that could shape the economy under his watch and possibly into his successor’s administration.

Australian and USA leaders have spent the days since the call was made public trying to solidify the deal and patch up frayed relations between the staunch allies.

It’s against this backdrop that Kellyanne Conway is eager to let the public know that the new president has promoted “another woman” – as if to suggest this is a very common occurrence – who’ll now serve in an important position.

The problem was that Spicer did not offer straight answers to any of the questions. There is no other conceivable reason for Spicer to attempt such spin, even if he did fail utterly at convincing anyone. This was laughably and demonstrably false, and Trump himself had to point out how ridiculous the argument had become. He talked about the president’s desire to rebuild “inner cities” and bring back jobs but gave no specific example of how Trump plans to do so in Cleveland. “Most people didn’t know that because it didn’t get covered”. As the New York Times noted a few years ago, “the August 4 attack never happened”.
