Wayward Pines the masterful adaptation of the “Wayward Pines” novels by eminent sci-fi and mystery author Blake Crouch and its impeccable direction by M Night Shyamalan was a surprise hit of summer 2015 and its Season 2 has proved to be even more nerve-wrecking than before! In the series’ first season, of which Crouch is also the executive producer, the plot has always centered on Ethan Burke’s (Matt Dillon) plight, but in season 2, there was no Ethan to be seen. While the season 2 finale capped off in such a way that the story can be complete on its own, there are a couple of hints on what could possibly happen if the show gets renewed for Season 3.
On choosing to star in Wayward Pines as the main cast member of a television series for the first time ever, Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou said, “I think TV offers you a platform in which you can – when you’re doing a film, you’re doing that film, and it’s that theme that you’re exploring in the film”.

Luckily, the show managed to sort things out after a sluggish start, and the past few weeks have been extremely exciting thanks to the fall of mankind, and in terms the rise of the Abbies. “We felt like there was still a lot to be said about what it’s like to be on the last town on the planet”, Shyamalan said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in May. “The Abbies will evolve into something else”, Crouch explained. Now, all that’s left is for Theo is to try and put back most of the humans in the cryogenic pods and try to save them from the outbreak. As he went to initiate the cryogenic process, he was once again visited by the memory of his wife, who told him that the fate of the human world rested in his hands. “That’s definitely a question on his mind, and that’s a question on the writers’ and the creators’ of this show’s minds – does mankind have a right to continue and to push on?” A possible third season would greatly hinge on those numbers, so it remains to be seen if Fox would give “Wayward Pines” season 3 the green light. He said that the show has always been about man’s final hours.
