Season 9 Top 9 Performances; Watch
It took Jordan Smith just 30 minutes to unseat Adele from the No. 1 spot on iTunes singles chart Monday night following his electrifying performance on “The Voice”. Once he took the stage and began singing Queen’s “Somebody To Love” though, it became clear that he was slotted last because nobody could possibly follow him.

Team Adam’s Levine and Team Blake Shelton worked to preserve their ideal track record with performances of Somebody to Love (Smith), To Make You Feel My Love (Vachal), Even God Must Get the Blues (Shelby Brown), Ghost (Barrett Barber), The Climb (Zach Seabaugh), and 9 to 5 (Emily Ann Roberts). “Did I just find a unicorn?”
After a night of very strong performances from everyone still involved in the competition, the deck was seemingly stacked against Smith, who was given the dubious task of closing the show.
The finale of the voice will be on Monday, December 14 at 8 pm.
Smith, who has excelled in covering hits of female artists, showed audiences a side of him they hadn’t seen so far this season.
