Seattle coach Pete Carroll: Russell Wilson has ankle sprain

After just one game, the issue is not moot.

An ankle injury sustained when Ndamukong Suh (unintentionally) stepped on Wilson Sunday could cause the Seahawks passer to miss the club’s Week Two meeting with the Rams, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Head coach Pete Carroll said on his weekly radio show Monday that despite some swelling, Wilson’s X-ray was “clean”.

You still think of your kids as your babies, but they’re getting set to grow into young adults!. “I’m going to do this'”. We’ll just have to wait and see how Wilson feels later on in the week.

Carroll said the team is discussing the possibility of adding a veteran quarterback.

Wilson’s mobility was limited after the injury but he was able to scramble a couple of times on Seattle’s final drive, which was capped by his 2-yard TD pass to Doug Baldwin with 31 seconds left.

“I’ve seen enough film where I’ve seen him have drives at the end of a game like the Atlanta game in 2013”, Gase said Monday.

“He’s got a sprained ankle”. He didn’t miss a snap.

Per CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, the Seahawks do not yet know what the extent of Wilson’s injury is. The entire game illustrated Seattle’s continued evolution into a pass-first offense under Wilson – which could again shift if he’s sidelined.

The Seahawks have one of the league’s top defenses but are reliant on Wilson to carry and lead this team.

Russell Wilson should be available Sunday.

That apparent indestructibility is a large reason why the Seahawks felt they could get by with Boykin as the only other quarterback on the roster to begin this season.

Tarvaris Jackson is still available as a free agent.

So now it’s time for that ice, prayer, treatment. and perhaps that veteran backup QB the Seahawks thought they wouldn’t need.
