The suspect briefly attempted to elude police on foot but was taken into custody without further incident.
The Seattle Times reports the man stole an Allied Waste Services truck, after he allegedly threatened the driver near the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct.
The drama unfolded shortly after 6 a.m.as the garbage truck operator was on his morning route to pick up trash.
The suspect also hit at least one other vehicle, which was unoccupied, and a rack of Pronto bikes, in addition to the garbage truck, police said.
“Our officers quickly spotted the Wayward garbage truck slowly driving through the Pike Pine corridor, as we followed closely behind as the truck weaved in and out of traffic”. The pursuit ended when the suspect collided head-on with another garbage truck near E. Olive Way and Bellevue Avenue, witnesses said.

Police said the driver, an 18-year-old with only a learner’s permit, was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of auto theft and malicious mischief.
