Seattle police officer Anthony Reynolds pulled a black vehicle over around 3.45am on Sunday when he noticed the driver speeding and running red lights, NBC reports.

As Reynolds approached, driver Abdul Abdashiek jumped out and explained that he was speeding because his pregnant wife was about to have their fourth child.

The police had called for an ambulance right away but the baby was having nothing of it.

“Come on baby”, one of the officers could be heard saying. Three other officers arrived just as the baby was born.

Medics transported the woman and her healthy baby to the hospital. They were last reported doing well and in stable condition, according to the family.

Although the newborn initially struggled to breathe, Officer Reynolds cleared out and vacated her airway and she started breathing normally again.

Reynolds radioed for an ambulance which didn’t arrive in time.

The new mum shouts: “Oh my God, the baby’s coming!” Though he might have been ready to write and deliver a ticket, instead ended up delivering a baby.

A few days later, the happy couple sent a note of thanks to the officers. “We are so grateful.”
