Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma has no-hitter through 8 innings

Think the Mariners should re-sign pending free-agent Hisashi Iwakuma?
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, of Japan, throws against the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth inning of a baseball game, Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in Seattle.
While the no-hitter was a first for Iwakuma’s career, it was the fifth in Mariners history and the third for the team in the last four seasons. “I thought you never know but he may have a shot here”.
David Lough fouled out to open the ninth with Seager making his remarkable catch.
It took 116 pitches for Iwakuma to put down the Orioles.
Iwakuma escaped the fourth-inning jam with a two-out strikeout of Jimmy Paredes. But after striking out Ryan Flaherty looking, Iwakuma got Caleb Joseph to ground into a double play.
The 34-year-old retired the first nine batters of the game before walking a pair of Orioles in the fourth inning and another in the eighth.
He missed 2 ½ months early in the season after straining a muscle in his back and side.

Franklin Guttierez, Robinson Cano and Jesus Sucre had RBIs for Seattle. Gutierrez then lined an RBI double into the left-center gap for a 1-0 lead. The inherent problem with these Seattle Mariners trade rumors, though, is that if he gives up on the season, ownership might just cut ties with him. Manager Buck Showalter said Wieters was feeling better and the hope is he’ll be ready to play this weekend at home against Oakland. Manager Lloyd McClendon seemed confident Cruz would be back in the lineup Friday in Boston.
