Second Official Trailer For The Martian Starring Matt Damon
The things that happen to Mark Watney (Matt Damon) in The Martian are the stuff of some real scary nightmares: the astronaut is left behind on Mars after his crew mistakenly believes he’s dead.

He added: “It was a challenge, just me in all these scenes, but it was me and Ridley Scott and that is a very easy decision to make”.
“The Martian” will world premiere at the Toronto worldwide Film Festival before hitting theaters nationwide October 2. The film chronicles his efforts to survive with extremely limited resources on a planet pretty much designed to kill him. “Those of us who aren’t fearless or smart enough to be doing this kind of work are extremely grateful for the work that they’re doing, and we know how important it is”.
The new trailer skips the introductory words, and jumps right to the action, with Damon noting that at some point, everyone will say, “This is it. This is how I end”. The tone here is certainly different than what we got with the first trailer and it has some new footage as well while upping the intensity of it in a couple of interesting ways.
Matt Damon is playing the lead role Mark Watney, whose difficulties remind that of Tom Hanks in Castaway.
NASA want to be landing people on Mars by the 2030s, but support has waned over the years as some scientists believe more data can be collected from unmanned ships. With only meagre supplies, Watney must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Sean Bean, Kate Mara, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Sebastian Stan, Michael Pena and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in the movie. Watney has all of these characteristics, and we’re going to see how they all come together to keep him alive.

“The Martian” will open September 30 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
