A man with a knife lunged at a security guard in the lobby of a police building in Michigan Thursday before the guard shot him, Fox 2 reports. He declined to release the man’s age, how he was killed or what kind of weapon he had.

Paletko tells 7 Action News that a man was walking through security and lunged at the guard with a knife in the lobby.
A police sergeant at the scene gave WWJ-AM a similar account.
Area schools were reported to be on lockdown during the incident, including Crestwood High School, Westwood Cyber School and Daly Elementary.
The court has been closed for the day, and police are continuing to investigate. Shaw said investigators believe there’s no threat to the public and that they were trying to determine why the person killed was at the courthouse.

The building now is surrounded in yellow police tape, and a large number of officers have converged on the building. “There were three officers that had huge guns that went running into the building”.
