Security unprecedented as Pope Francis arrives in Washington D.C.

Central Falls Mayor James Diossa – the city’s first Hispanic mayor – will be among the dignitaries at the White House welcoming ceremony with President Barack Obama on Wednesday morning.
“Washingtonians often don’t like to come to big events because there’s just so many people and we’ve dealt with it so much”, Clancey said, “but I just couldn’t turn this down because it’s so special”.

Locally, while Sacred Heart will not host any public events, the seminary’s bell rang for 10 minutes at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, to celebrate the pope’s landing on USA soil.
