A new China suspension bridge offers up a see-through experience you once only dreamed of.

China has opened a new high-altitude suspension bridge spanning a 1000-foot canyon in the Shiniuzhai National Geological Park in central Hunan province, according to the People’s Daily Online. The region’s geologic formations are said to be the inspiration for the scenery in James Cameron’s film Avatar.
The first group of visitors to cross the bridge appeared terrified, as they struggled with vertigo and stared down at the canyon below.
Stretching 300 metres long, the glass suspension bridge is named Haohan Qiao, translating in English to “Brave Men’s Bridge” and it’s not hard to see why.
The bridge, once a wooden overpass linking two peaks of Stone Buddha Mountain, has been transformed over the past few months by a group of 11 engineers.
It was previously made of wood but after part of the bridge was successfully converted to glass a year ago, the authorities chose to overhaul it completely.

Meanwhile there’s another glass bridge being built in Zhangjiajie, Hunan that’ll be even higher and longer than the one at the Geopark. “Nature is handsome as is”. Nevertheless, tourists should be more relieved to know that the glass used for the bridge flooring is 25 times stronger than normal glass. You might walk a little slower than usual, though, considering the only thing between you and a 180-meter drop is 24 millimeters of glass.
