Seeking to regain ground, Trump calls Clinton corrupt and a liar
Hillary Clinton largely ignored Donald Trump’s attacks on her in a speech she gave in North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon, hours after Trump used a speech in NY to rip into her on all fronts.

He said Clinton, seeking to become the first female US president, “ran the State Department like her own personal hedge fund, doing favors for oppressive regimes, and many others, in exchange for cash”.
Seeking to refocus his presidential campaign, Donald Trump will lambaste Democratic rival Hillary Clinton as a failed secretary of state who is out of step with Americans on trade and immigration.
Clinton went on to say that many of Trump’s attacks on her are personal, and that’s just because he has no answers about substance.
Trump had delivered his own speech only a few hours earlier, in which he threw a CPAC’s worth of attacks at Clinton on everything from her temperament to her foreign policy.
Toward the end of her speech, Clinton took aim at Trump, saying, “he has no real strategy for creating jobs – just a string of empty promises”.
He blamed Clinton for the rise of Islamic State terrorism in the Middle East, for allegedly lying about the circumstances surrounding the 2012 attack on USA compounds in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the US ambassador, and overseas trade deals that he said have cost the jobs of US workers.
Clinton also highlighted the irony she sees in Trump boasting of his “America First” policy at a time when numerous billionaire businessman’s signature merchandise is produced overseas.
Yet despite weeks of setbacks and self-inflicted wounds, he has remained neck and neck with Clinton in two out of three swing states.
Trump attacked the Clinton Foundation for accepting millions of dollars from Saudi Arabia and other countries criticized by the United States for not protecting the rights of women and gay people.
Trump is facing heavy criticism for his rhetoric about Islam, and polls show he’s struggling with a diverse electorate.
Reading his speech from a teleprompter, Trump also faulted Clinton over the economy, free trade and some of her campaign contributions. The news fueled speculation that Clinton would soften her rhetoric about businesses and corporate interests to win them over.
Even by the standards of modern presidential races, the sparring between Clinton, a former secretary of state and US senator, and brash businessman Trump has made for unusually acidic rhetoric.
“He was left helpless to die as Hillary Clinton soundly slept in her bed”, he said.
Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton launched attacks against each other this week.
BOTTOM LINE: Clinton is pointing to issues she worked on throughout her career, but in some cases is painting a too-simplistic picture that could lead voters to believe more got done, and that Clinton had a bigger role, than was actually the case.
Clinton and her staff have denied this and similar allegations, dismissing them as politically motivated smears. “It takes experience working with both parties to get results”, she said.

“Well, the foundation is really a disgusting situation”, Trump said Wednesday on Fox Business News’ “Mornings with Maria”.
