Sega renews Virtua Fighter trademark

Sega released the first installment in its long-running Virtua Fighter series in arcades in 1993. Sadly, other IPs such as Tekken, Street Fighter, King of Fighters etc took over the mainstream market.

Possibly because such a great fighting game is expensive to develop, the series didn’t sell as well as its contemporaries, and Sega hasn’t exactly been killing it since 2006. Assuming that another entry is even happening at all, Sega definitely would have its work cut out for them stepping back into the ring. This does not necessarily mean that a new game is in development.

The last Virtua Figher game to be released was Virtua Figher 5: Final Showdown, and that was 4 years ago in 2012. In the meantime, what are your favorite memories from the Virtua Fighter series? Or a Virtua Fighter remaster would do the trick for you?
