Select winners at the Grammy Awards

In one of the biggest wins of the night, Mark Ronson just took home the Grammy for Record of the Year for his hit “Uptown Funk”.

The song was EVERYWHERE a year ago; “Uptown Funk” spent fourteen consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in several other countries including Belgium, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland and New Zealand.

Justin Bieber performs “Where are U Now” with Jack U. The song won the best dance recording award.

Kendrick Lamar, who led the nominations with a total of 11, won five despite losing in the main categories.

Kendrick Lamar won plenty of acclaim for his performance of the songs The Blacker the Berry and Alright, and won Best Rap Album (To Pimp A Butterfly), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance (Alright).

Ronson and Mars’ hit “Uptown Funk” beat out other nominees D’Angelo and The Vanguard’s “Really Love”, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, Taylor Swift ‘s “Blank Space” and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” for Record of the Year.

– Best country duo/group performance: “Girl Crush”, Little Big Town.

Swift later allowed 1989 to appear on Apple’s new music streaming platform after a feud in which the technology giant agreed to improve compensation to artists, although some in the industry wondered if the headline-grabbing exchange was staged.

Best urban contemporary album: “Beauty Behind the Madness”, The Weeknd. Despite its massive commercial success, 25 wasn’t eligible for Grammy consideration this year, because it came out in November; only albums released between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015 were considered.

The show also plans to honor the late Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire as the band’s surviving members present the award for record of the year. White died February 4.

The 58th annual Grammy Awards are being hosted by LL Cool J. The show, taking place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, airs at 8 p.m. ET Monday on CBS. It went to the rap-fueled musical Hamilton, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who rapped his acceptance speech.
