Selena Gomez Is Getting Her Own Netflix Miniseries
The novel centers on a shy California high school student who finds a box of cassette tapes on his doorstep.

On the tapes, which she recorded for 12 of her classmates, Hannah reveals the 13 reasons why she made a decision to end her life.

Netflix has been spitting hot fire lately when it comes to producing its own content, creating a tidal wave of programming to follow in the foot steps of House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black with shows like Narcos, Daredevil, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bloodline and more. They all must pass on the tapes to the next person, lest they get released by another student possesses a second set of recordings.
The series marks Gomez’s return to TV, following the conclusion of her Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place in 2012. She actually read the book and then realized it had the potential to become more than just a book. Her latest album, Revival, debuted atop the Billboard 200 albums chart. The series’ executive producer is Selena Gomez.

Before landing at Netflix as a series – which has been in talks at the streaming service for over one year – “13 Reasons Why” had been in development as a feature film at Universal.
