Unfortunately, it was just a matter of hours before Levine and Prinsloo found out that Grimmie, who was a contestant on music competition The Voice, was shot dead at a concert in Orlando, Florida.

Adam Levine shared a photo with Grimmie on his Facebook and Twitter, which he captioned: “Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s death”.

The former reality television star, who was on the U.S edition of The Voice, was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries.

Christina first found fame as a teenager for her renditions of hit songs, which led to her developing a huge following on YouTube. Gomez’s stepfather, Brian Teefey, signed on as Grimmie’s manager after discovering her on YouTube when Grimmie was in high school.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina holds a press conference Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Orlando, Fla., outside The Plaza Live theater, the location where singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed the night befo.

Marcus immediately tackled Loibl who then shot and killed himself during the struggle. Marcus tackled the gunman, identified by police as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl.

Mina says there were unarmed security guards at The Plaza concert venue and they checked bags and purses for contraband.

Christina’s longtime manager, Brian Teefey, has launched a GoFundMe page that will assist the singer’s family during this hard time. She was the target of a deliberate attack, although it does not appear at this time that Grimmie and Loibl knew each other. “We lost a handsome soul with an fantastic voice”.

“Christina was more than my sister”, People magazine reported the post as saying.

Marcus encouraged fans to share their photographs and memories of Christina in the comments for him to read. In Christina’s honor I have created a Go Fund Me page to assist her family in their time of need.

Her killing was reminiscent of the 1995 fatal shooting of Selena Quintanilla-Perez, a 23-year-old singer best known as Selena.
