Sen. John Thune Calls for Paul Ryan to Support Donald Trump
Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nevada, said of Ryan’s public stand. “I’m trying to figure out what the upside is”.

“This is a choice every voter is going to have to make”.
Thursday’s meeting at Republican National Committee headquarters will kick off with a private session between Trump, Ryan and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus before other senior House GOP leaders are invited to attend. Trump is also expected to meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other top Senate Republicans. Trump has said he wants to raise $1 billion to take on Clinton, but even Trump’s supporters acknowledge that may be an unrealistic goal for a campaign with only a barebones infrastructure in place.
“Donald Trump is unifying the party already”, said Alabama Sen.
“The other thing is the tone that he has had”, Capito said. “I’m going to release them”, Trump told the ABC News in an interview, amidst reports that two former presidents u2013 George H W Bush and George W Bush u2013 along with two presidential aspirants Jeb Bush and Lindsay Graham have refused to endorse him.
Failed presidential candidate and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said even after the tumultuous primary season, most Republicans will eventually come around to supporting Trump. GOP lawmakers are increasingly calling for the party to end its embarrassing bout of infighting and unite to beat likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November, and many want to see Ryan get on board. “I broke – you know, you talk about the glass ceiling, what I’ve done in terms of jobs for women and I’ve gotten so much credit, and to this day I have so many women in my company that are doing so well, making so much money, I mean, in many cases making more money than men in comparable positions”, he added.
When Paul Ryan first became Speaker of the House, close to 70 percent of Republicans supported the move. “So today what I heard in his call for unity is that we will go through a process”.
On Tuesday, Republican Senator James Inhofe criticized Ryan’s statements, saying Trump ‘is the nominee, he’s going to be working together and have to establish a workable relationship, and I think they will’.
Many expect Trump to build momentum as the convention approaches, narrowing his opponents’ options.
But Ryan said on Wednesday that these differences are not at issue, because “this is a big tent party”.
“We launched this campaign intending to win”.
The billionaire businessman also plans to tap his “massive rolodex” of personal contacts – from business executives to members of his golf clubs to personal friends who have not traditionally been involved in campaigns – to help fund the party’s general election efforts, a campaign adviser said.
Trump’s detractors on Capitol Hill believe Ryan has provided cover to his colleagues in tough races by showing some distance from the candidate.

“The divide in that group may be a little more deep”, said Pawlenty, who heads the Financial Services Roundtable. We had a very good conversation in March on the phone. “There’s typically 10 on the Florida ballot”. MSNBC played above the bar, running coverage of Ryan telling a reporter earlier that morning that he would step down as chairman of the Republican National Convention if Trump wants. And I think we’re meeting on Thursday.
