Sen. Kaine appears with Hillary Clinton at Virginia campaign event

The GenForward Survey was conducted online June 14-27 among 1,965 adults age 18-30. Clinton maintains these leads, though at slightly smaller margins, when third-party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are included.

The GenForward study, from the Black Youth Project at the University of Chicago with the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, drilled down into racial and ethnic divisions among younger voters, finding Trump’s support among black, Asian and Hispanic youth in the single digits, while he carries about a quarter of younger white voters. And 82 percent of white evangelicals who say it’s harder to be an evangelical today support Mr. Trump, while 72 percent of those who say it isn’t more difficult to be an evangelical support the GOP candidate.

“We’re watching it become the Party of Trump”.

In the Sunshine State, Clinton leads Trump, 44% to 37%. Lamenting the loss of millions of American manufacturing jobs, economic growth and production overseas, Trump struck an ambitious theme to Pennsylvanians, a state that traditionally votes Democrat in presidential elections. Speaking at Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where Lincoln declared in 1858 that “house divided against itself can not stand”, the presumptive Democratic nominee aimed to put Trump’s rise in historical context, stressing that while the threats he poses are not as immediate as those the country faced more than 150 years ago, they are nonetheless serious.

With the platform process completed (and he didn’t win quite everything he wanted), Sanders then gave Hilary his full-throated backing in a spirited New Hampshire event on Tuesday. He won’t need them.

“Nothing beats the Bible, not even The Art of the Deal”, he told a group of Republicans last summer, referring to the book he wrote on business negotiations.

Despite the new poll’s favorable numbers for Trump on the evangelical vote, its authors point out it does not so much reflect evangelicals’ confidence in the billionaire as their distaste for Clinton.

And it definitely showed up in the poll. Trump widened his lead on honesty and trustworthiness.

Half of Americans – 50 percent – now consider Clinton’s emails to be a major problem, up from one-third who said that in October 2015. In Pennsylvania, 49 percent to 34 percent.

Despite leading, Clinton isn’t holding the same advantage she had earlier in the race, which is causing Democrats some worry.

Perhaps the most surprising element is that it appears nearly 20 percent of the electorate in these critical swing states appears to be up for grabs headed into the conventions and debates.

The joint appearance came hours after Trump’s campaign signaled its own intention to announce Pence as its vice-presidential pick – although Trump aides tried to sow doubts ahead of a planned Friday morning unveiling.

Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota, a Muslim who co-chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, praised Kaine, but said, “I would prefer someone…who’s really going to signal to the progressive base that we’re going to make some advances on this income inequality people have been suffering from”.
