Reports say he was found in his home in Mayo, Quebec, east of Gatineau Monday night at 10pm local time.

He said that since police found no criminal element in the incident, “no additional information will be disclosed” and would not confirm whether Brazeau was the subject of the ambulance call.

Brazeau’s lawyer, Christian Deslauriers, confirmed to CTV News that his client is in hospital.

Brazeau was taken from his home to a hospital in Buckingham, Que. before being transferred to a hospital in Gatineau, according to CBC News.

Brazeau’s condition was unknown Tuesday morning, Radio-Canada said.

He is in critical but stable condition, but his injuries are not life threatening, the statement added.

Brazeau was tried for assault and sexual assault previous year until, after several days of testimony, he changed his plea to guilty on the assault charge and the Crown withdrew the sexual assault charge.

Brazeau was kicked out of the Conservative caucus and suspended from the Senate in late 2013, after he was charged for his questionable expenses. He’s also awaiting trial on his Senate expenses and has been having his salary clawed back to repay almost $50,000 in claims.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to the reduced charges of assault and possession of cocaine after the more serious charge of sexual assault was dropped due to a lack of evidence.
