The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Senate at Tuesday’s plenary mandated the committee to investigate the cause of the scarcity and proffer solutions to the problems.
According to Barau, with the willingness of President Buhari and the readiness of the National Assembly, the end of fuel scarcity was in sight.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife made the position of the Senate known on the issue during the meeting.
The senators expressed worries over the endless fuel scarcity and the hardship it inflicts on Nigerians who are at the receiving end.
The upper chamber also said notable sharp practices including discrepancies in prices of petroleum products, especially Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and hoarding of products should be stopped forthwith.
Fuming over what she described as unnecessary fuel crisis, Ekwunife, said: “We are mandating the Minister of Petroleum Resources, the Permanent Secretary and heads of agencies to stop this fuel scarcity in two weeks”.

She said that PPMC had gone into collaboration with security agencies to tackle sabotage in the sector.
