U.S. Sen. Richard Burr won’t run for another term – or for any elected office – after this year’s election, he told North Carolina Republican convention delegates Wednesday.
Still, the Senior Senator from North Carolina made a stop in the city on Wednesday to address the state’s delegation. He now serves as the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman.
If Burr does win in November his term would last thru 2022. Richard Burr is stressing that this is his last election. “I never envisioned retiring out of the Congress”.
Burr has served in Congress since 1995, starting with 10 years in the U.S. House before winning his Senate seat in 2004.
“It’s real simple: I’m beginning to get old”, the 60-year-old Burr said, according to the Charlotte Observer.
