Senator Corker Drops From Consideration as Trump Running Mate
“If Donald Trump selects Bob Corker as vice president, it will be to reach out to those people to send a signal to the media, it won’t be because people across the country will go ‘wow, he picked Bob Corker, I’m in, ‘” he said.

Sen. Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee whose foreign policy chops made him a top contender to be Mr. Trump’s running mate, pulled himself out of the running Wednesday.
The day of conversation and travel with Trump comes as Corker is being formally vetted for the vice-presidential nomination by Washington lawyer A.B. Culvahouse Jr.
But in his appearance Tuesday night at a Trump rally in Raleigh, N.C., the Tennessee Republican didn’t reveal whether he’s ready to be Trump’s running mate.
Corker would have his hands full defending Trump’s foreign policy pronouncements – like one Tuesday night when the presumptive nominee said Saddam Hussein ‘killed terrorists – he did that so good’.
Trump and Corker met for the first time in May to talk about foreign policy issues. “So to the degree that Corker seems to be embracing Trump, that is of value to Trump with those people”, said Korda.
After Trump’s attack on the Mexican ancestry of the judge overseeing a civil case against him involving Trump University, Corker sounded anguished at the damage Trump was doing to his electoral prospects. He previously served as mayor of Chattanooga, Tenn.

CNN reported that Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and campaign chairman Paul Manafort were both in on the meeting with Ernst. With Corker removing his name from consideration, it is believed that Trump’s list of potential picks still includes former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and Iowa Sen. “I was very impressed with the thought and consideration he was putting into the topics we discussed”, she said in an interview Wednesday.
