Trump’s meetings with both Pence and Ernst signal that both are in consideration for his vice presidential pick, which is expected to be unveiled at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio starting on July 18. The presumptive Republican nominee tweeted Tuesday that he had a “great” time with Ernst, fueling speculation over Trump’s choice for vice president.
While Grassley was adamant Ernst would be a great VP pick, he was more circumspect on whether Iowa’s junior US senator would be wise to accept such an offer in light of Trump’s polarizing image.
Largely unknown two years ago, Ernst broke through a crowded 2014 GOP primary field to win the nomination for Senate with a campaign ad in which she said her rural roots and experiences castrating hogs would serve as training for how she would cut pork in Washington.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has discussed what an ideal vice presidency would look like to him, will campaign with Trump Wednesday in Ohio.

Donald Trump has been polarizing the American 2016 presidential election cycle with his off the cuff comments and severe rhetoric that demonizes minority groups, which includes Mexicans, Muslims and women. When asked why the Republican should be president, Cotton said that “he can ultimately make the case for himself”, jokingly adding that he “just doesn’t demonstrate enthusiasm much in life, especially in such risky times as these”. If Trump selects her, he may have found someone as savvy with the media as himself.
Ernst said she will support her party’s nominee by offering him strategic advice on how to win her home state.
Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former director of the Defence Intelligence Agency, is reportedly being considered to be Donald Trump’s vice president. “His best running mate, by the way, would be Ivanka”.

Later, Mr Trump revealed he would be visiting with Ms Ernst, a rising Republican star.
