Senator Probes Pokemon Go Maker Over Data Privacy Concerns

Niantic has confirmed that Pokemon Go is now available to download in Germany.

In just a few days, Pokemon GO has become the most downloaded phone app in the U.S. The app, which uses mapping software to create a virtual reality game, is getting children and adults out and about in their neighborhoods to “catch” the game characters as they pop up on phone screens from various locations.

Although, there is a warning each time you start the game to be sure to pay attention but that warning is quickly overlooked.

The game’s success on smartphones also could spur faster development from hardware makers – Microsoft with its HoloLens, the secretive startup Magic Leap, or Google, which could still revive its failed Glass headgear, says Timothy Carone, a professor at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. In India, several people have tried to play the game but in the Mumbai area it is showing only one Pokemon and it is not working properly. Criminals have also taken advantage of the game’s potential, with three St. Louis men allegedly using it to lure unsuspecting players with the intention of robbing them.

In case you haven’t played, Pokemon Go is basically a treasure hunt.

Niantic, which was spun out of Google in 2015, responded on Monday to criticism over privacy concerns by releasing a statement that it “recently discovered” the “account creation process on iOS erroneously requests full access permission for the user’s Google account”. I finally got it via the official app store, and yes the game is a lot of fun to play.

It’s all because Pokémon Go uses our phones’ Global Positioning System to highlight real-world locations where tiny cute magical creatures and items can be found – and when you find someone else at those locations playing Pokémon Go, you automatically have something in common.

If you are a 90s kid then you know that Pokemon was the best thing ever.

While Pokemon Go underwent field-testing before it’s launch, it’s nearly impossible for a developer like Niantic to perform a true server stress-test before a release, especially one that is free-to-play. Just follow the video, do as directed and you will be able to do the same as well. When you get close enough to a Pokémon, you can click on it to engage them.

While walking the streets of Petoskey recently, you may have noticed an increase of people hanging around the waterfront or maybe you’ve seen people hanging about the park, mumbling something about Squirtels and Pickachus. The augmented reality experience is actually pretty cool.

Powering up – To train your pokemon without fighting at a gym, tap on them from the menu to get more detailed information and then tap the “Power Up” button.

That’s why we’ve gone and put together this Pokemon Go tutorial for new players. Given the huge popularity of Pokemon Go, it’s not hard to imagine retail establishments lining up for sign sponsorship deals to attract more customers.
