Senator Rand Paul drops out of presidential race
“And I think much of his support was personal to him or his father”, Dowd said in an email in response to questions about how the race will now play out. Brushfires of Liberty were ignited, and those will carry on, as will I.

ABC News analyst Matt Dowd said he thinks Paul’s supporters will end up splitting off among Rubio, Trump and Cruz – or just refrain from voting altogether.
Paul said he had heard about “many tragic cases” of children who got vaccines and ended up with “profound mental disorders”.
Kentucky’s March Republican presidential caucus won’t feature an active candidate from the Bluegrass State.
Mr Paul, an ophthalmologist, represents Kentucky in the US Senate and is the son of former Congressman Ron Paul, who ran for president several times.
“The environment as we started this race just was not as friendly to Senator Paul”, chief strategist Doug Stafford acknowledged Wednesday.
“Rand Paul is the latest to find that there is no room for the Liberty Movement in today’s Republican nominating process”.
“I don’t really have an absolute answer for what went on with the election and why people make their choices”, Paul said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press Wednesday after a disappointing fifth-place finish in Iowa.
Lasley, a political science professor at Western Kentucky University, admits some Kentucky Republicans may be less likely to attend next month’s caucus because Paul dropped out of the race. Ted Cruz, both appeal to “socially conservative libertarians”, according to The Guardian.
Paul in a statement Wednesday suggested that he was dropping out to focus on his Senate reelection bid.
After speculation mounted throughout the day, Santorum told Fox News he was officially suspending his tilt at the presidency and endorsing somebody whose values and policies he was in tune with, including over the threat to America from Isis.
Presidential hopeful Rand Paul announced two days after the Iowa Caucus that he will be ending his campaign.
Back home in Kentucky, Paul will be gearing up for a re-election campaign where he will be facing off against the Democratic mayor of Lexington, Jim Gray.

Democrats have been intensely critical of Paul’s divided attention, accusing him of neglecting Kentuckians as he pursued his presidential ambitions.
