The special one-day Papal Visit Pass required to ride SEPTA’s streamlined Regional Rail service during Pope Francis’s visit to Philadelphia on September 26th and 27th will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 20th, according to a news release SEPTA issued this afternoon.

SEPTA’s limiting how many passes are available to keep crowds consistent with capacity.
For those riding the subways, buses and trolleys, SEPTA said it also plans a three-day papal visit transit pass with sales for those passes starting July 27.
SEPTA said Monday that trains on six lines will stop at Jefferson Station and four will stop at 30th Street Station.
Customers must select their outlying station and time slot when purchasing the one-day Regional Rail pass and passes are non-refundable. Tickets cost $10 each per day and no other fares, passes or cash will be accepted on the trains September 26-27, officials stressed. The Airport Line will operate modified service in both directions throughout the weekend. Those planning to travel on Saturday and Sunday will need to purchase passes for both days, including seniors and children over the age of 5.
Riders may purchase up to 10 passes in one transaction through the e-commerce site.
For Delaware County riders, those using Media/Elwyn line will depart at University City Station; those using the Wilmington/Newark or Paoli-Thorndale lines will depart at 30th Street Station. Afterwards, riders must board at the same center city station where they were dropped off for return service to their outlying station.
Inbound service will operate from 5:30 a.m.to noon at all stations except Croydon and Cornwells Heights.
Lansdale/Doylestown Line: Pennbrook and Fort Washington stations. Those will run between 5: 30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and again from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
In its statement SEPTA urged travelers on the Regional Rail system to “arrange to be dropped off at or near their station”.

“When they purchase their tickets, they will have to purchase those tickets for those stations at those time slots”, SEPTA Spokeswoman Gerri Williams explains. “Parking will be limited at SEPTA stations and surrounding locations, and spots are expected to fill up quickly both days”.
