Sequel to Harry Potter spinoff, ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ coming in 2018

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 18th, 2016. As it stands, the film will be about Newt Scamander, who is played by Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne.

Huh. So it doesn’t sounds like Newt is going to be all that successful, does it? Of Rowling’s ever-expanding “Wizarding World”, which includes the hit play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Warner Bros. said, “There is much more on the horizon”. It is trying something new for the series, something risky, something that should speak in a very real way to both old and young readers – and that’s a great thing for the final book in a fantasy series’.

Warner Bros.is betting on the power of J.K. Rowling. There isn’t any exact release date on the third movie, but it should be out in November 2020.

Harry Potter series author J.K. Rowling, who made her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts, will return to write the screenplay for the sequel.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child has become the fastest-selling book in the United Kingdom this decade, selling more than 680,000 copies in its first three days. During the San Diego Comic-Con, he said: “There is a mention of some characters that we know and love from previous movies, but we only talk about them fleetingly”.

The Fantastic Beasts series plays a major role in expanding Rowling’s “Wizarding World”. We saw our biggest first day figures since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in 2007 and after just two days’ sales Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is already our biggest-selling hardback since Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol in 2009.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a script, not a novel. Warner Bros. has struggled with its DC Extended Universe recently, so it is not altogether surprising to see the studio invest heavily in a franchise that has repeatedly turned out hits.
