Konjuh hit 38 winners including six aces as she avenged a second-round loss to her Polish opponent at Wimbledon.
The game puts players in control of the legend and tasks them with winning the final point of the match to earn Williams one of her 22 career Grand Slam singles titles.
“I don’t think I really served in the summer until I got here to NY so it was a really tough summer for me”.
Second seed Andy Murray rolled to a 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 rout of Grigor Dimitrov to reach the quarterfinals for the 22nd time in his past 23 Grand Slam tournaments.
But Murray was firing on all cylinders, rating the match that included a career high 141-mph ace to close out the first set as one of his best this season.
Del Potro recalled in his on-court interview after Monday’s match how sad he was to watch the U.S. Open on TV, stuck at home the last two years.
If both Kerber and Serena make the championship match, the American will have to win to extend her reign.

In the quarterfinals, del Potro’s opponent will be No. 3 Wawrinka, a 6-4, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 victor against Illya Marchenko.
