Serena Williams: Another Grand Slam, another final, another title?
Kerber has beaten her once before, but that was back in 2012, and Serena’s won their last four matches without dropping a set. Djokovic’s only loss in a major past year was in the final of the French Open.

The pressure of playing for a Grand Slam final was evident in Konta’s tight swings.
“But I’ve been definitely trying to put in a lot of work and trying to get there”.
I had my little chance in second set, especially when it was 4-all.
If Konta prevails, she would become the first women’s grand slam finalist from the United Kingdom since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977. After four minutes, Federer was two games down. “I’ve been going and going and going for a long time”. The venue will not be fixed. “It’s fantastic to play against the No. 1”. Showing the resolve that carried her to her first Grand Slam semifinal, Konta fought all the way back.
“I’ve seen Novak play this well before”, he said.

Serena Williams of the United States celebrates after defeating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland during their semifinal match at the Australian Open tennis championships in Melbourne, Australia, Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.
Radwanska finally got off the mark in the opening game of the second set when Williams netted a backhand from the baseline, to huge applause from the crowd.
With the Open Era record in her crosshairs, she insists she won’t be thinking about historical implications, which seemed to wear on her during her quest for the Calendar Slam at last year’s US Open.
Andy Murray and a much lesser-known British player, Johanna Konta, advanced to the Australian Open semifinals Wednesday. The mixed doubles final is scheduled for Sunday.
Serena Williams had the eye of the tiger against Agnieszka Radwanska.
Dodig and Mirza will play Elena Vesnina of Russian Federation and Bruno Soares of Brazil in the semifinals. They’ll play the seventh-seeded team of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic.
Williams is yet to drop a set at the first grand slam of the season and she enters Saturday’s final as the strong favourite to clinch a seventh Melbourne crown. “I think she heard what I said on the centre court”. Kerber said, adding: “I’m really looking forward to playing against Serena”.
She sits third on the list of women’s grand slam winners behind Australia’s Margaret Court (24) and Germany’s Steffi Graf (22).
Radwanska managed to get on the board in the second set but the damage was already done, with Williams reaching her 26th grand slam final and fifth in the past six majors.
Speaking about the lengthy layoff, Williams said, “I worked really hard”. I think I’m ready for it to be now in the top five. It just blows my mind right now. It will go away soon. This is what I mean that I have nothing to lose.
Williams did not play another short after losing to Roberta Vinci in the US Open semi-finals, and did not look altogether convincing as a title prospect either at the end of past year with the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) or at the Hopman Cup.

With the roof on Rod Laver Arena closed because of a thunderstorm closing in, the most obvious noise in the first set was the chirping of trapped birds who’d taken shelter in the stadium.
