Pliskova is still riding the wave of momentum her Cincinnati triumph over Kerber sparked.

While Karolina backed up her junior glory with an appearance at the US Open final, her sister unfortunately has not been able to mature as fast as Karolina.
She’s gotten a ton of big-match experience this year, having played for the title in Melbourne, London, and Rio.
Karolina Pliskova caused a boil-over to make the final of the US Open and will look for another upset when she takes on the new world No.1 Angelique Kerber who has been fantastic throughout the tournament.
Pliskova defeated and knocked out Serena Williams in the semifinals of the current tennis tournament. According to data from aggregator TicketIQ, ticket prices for the finals plunged 50 percent following her loss, as everyone wanted to see her get her epic number 23 in Grand Slam titles. Kerber won this year’s Australian Open and was the runner-up at Wimbledon.
This will be her third appearance in a Grand Slam title match: She beat Williams in the Australian Open final in January, then lost to the American in the Wimbledon final in July. Suddenly up 4-3 in the set, Pliskova turned to her coach up in the stands and yelled, pumping her fists.
Kerber was at her counterpunching best against the powerful Pliskova, who wilted late in the third set under hot, humid conditions. She had never gone past the third round in a major.
“Everything started here in 2011, and now I’m here in 2016 and I’m standing with the trophy, second grand slam trophy, and it means so much to me”. On Thursday, the saboteur was a slender Czech all but unknown to casual observers due to her chronic underperformance in the early rounds of the sport’s four bedrock tournaments. That’s the best of my career.
World No. 11 Karolina Pliskova has been on the rise for quite a few years now. She is set to climb to No. 6 and if she manages to win tonight, she will be the new No. 5.
Pliskova’s coach Jiri Vanek, revealed to New York Times that he had suggested her to do ‘something stupid’ to celebrate her win, but she did not accept.
The 28-year-old has blamed fatigue for that defeat and says she is ready to try and gain revenge on the Czech.
Jamie Murray of Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil won the U.S. Open doubles championship Saturday for their second Grand Slam title this year, beating Spaniards Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-3. Graf went on to win the Grand Slam that year – all four majors – and an Olympic gold medal.

They dropped only one service game and won 71 percent of first-serve points against their unseeded opponents.
