Serena bested Johanna Larsson of Sweden, 6-2, 6-1 in their third round matchup.

“If I play like this today, I will maybe have chance to do a great match against him”.

With her 6-2, 6-1 victory Saturday over Johanna Larsson in the third round of the US Open, Williams earned her 307th victory in Grand Slam singles events.

Not only has she surpassed Navratilova, she matched Roger Federers mark for men.

Serena Williams powered to a record 307th Grand Slam match win yesterday to reach the fourth round of the US Open.

The second set begins much like the first, as Venus Williams wins the first two games for another 2-0 start over Laura Siegemund.

“I don’t know how I came back”, said Halep, whose unforced errors skyrocketed in the second set.

“I just think it should have been a different scoreline for me”. No. 5 Milos Raonic of Canada and No. 7 Marin Cilic of Croatia exited on the men’s side, Garbine Muguruza of Spain on the women’s side.

He’s 5,470 miles away from home, but Juan Martin del Potro is being treated like he was born and bred in New York City. But there still are two British players remaining in the men’s draw, Murray and Kyle Edmund, who faces No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia on Sunday. That’s because 19-year-old qualifier Jared Donaldson’s run ended with a straight-set loss to 37-year-old Ivo Karlovic, the oldest man to reach the fourth round in NY since Jimmy Connors was 39 in 1991. He meets sixth-seeded Kei Nishikori. Williams argued that disparities persisted between the way male and female athletes were perceived and paid.

Williams has said that the shoulder injury has been stable thus far at the tournament, and it certainly doesn’t seem like it has effected her play. “I also believe that, as a woman, we have still a lot to do and a lot to be going forward”.

She was surprised by the variety Williams displayed Saturday, especially with some heavy-spin, high-bouncing strokes.

“Obviously with her it’s tough”, Pliskova said of Williams. “I’m really proud that I could win it and come back from 3-1 down in the third set”. Yaroslava Shvedova was able to break Shuai Peng five times in ten attempts. This includes the preparation of derivative works of, or the incorporation of such content into other works.

That sounds like bad news for upcoming opponents, starting with 52nd-ranked Yaroslava Shvedova, who advanced to the round of 16 in NY for the first time by beating Zhang Shuai 6-2, 7-5.

Victory for the world No 14 over Anasastija Sevastova of Latvia would put her into the last eight and send the Briton to the verge of the top 10.

Earlier, Polish fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska reached the US Open last 16 for the fifth time with a 6-2, 6-3 win over France’s Caroline Garcia.

Venus Williams won the first frame through the service game. “It’s always something special, that’s for sure”, said Wawrinka, who had his left ankle taped after twisting it during the match. “She’s risky”, Mouratoglou said about Shvedova. Best of all for the world No1, there was no outward indication of the shoulder ailment that was said to be compromising her play.
