Two goals from Sergio Aguero and a fourth league goal of the season for Raheem Sterling made it 10 wins in as many games for Manchester City.

Sterling then did make sure with a well taken solo goal on the counter attack shortly after with quick feet and a neat finish past Fabianski. But I want to help him to be a better player’. Following the City encounter, Guidolin’s side face Liverpool and Arsenal in succession and will have to be at their very best if they are to get anything out of these games.

City travel to Glasgow this week for their second Champions League group phase fixture against Scottish title holders Celtic.

Asked about De Bruyne’s situation, Guardiola added: “I think he is injured”.

“We didn’t create too many chances early in the game, then (Fernando) Llorente scored a fantastic goal”.

Manchester City will have the services of star forward Sergio Aguero on Saturday after he served the final game of his three match suspension on Wednesday.David Silva could be fit, while Fabian Delph could miss out due to match fitness.

“From the way her reacted, I think it’s a muscular injury but I am not a doctor”, Guardiola said. “The victory was the most important thing and of course we can improve”.

De Bruyne has started the 2016/17 campaign in fine form, netting two goals and providing three assists in his first five Premier League appearances as the Citizens recorded five straight victories. It is not easy to play twice a week with the same team, so both teams changed.

On the penalty, awarded by referee Neil Swarbrick at a crucial time of the game, Guidolin said: “I am not one to judge the referee”.

“He wants us to keep grinding results out”.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been an unstoppable force this season, winning their first five games with consummate ease, including a Manchester derby, where they were easily the better side against Jose Mourinho’s men, who were found wanting for ideas.
