Sergio Aguero: Out against Swansea

City’s stumbling Premier League title challenge has not been helped by a long list of injuries this season, although Pellegrini has been at pains to play down suggestions that he is over-reliant on captain Vincent Kompany and striker Sergio Aguero.

On their opponents, Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini said Swansea perhaps should have stuck with Monk rather than twist: “They’re in a bad moment but it’s not down to one person – in football, you’re never surprised about anything but I’m sure he’s the same good manager he was previous year”.

“It’s the way we normally work – it’s the way I like us to play”.

“We know we can beat most teams when we are at our best”.

It’s been a substantial step up for him since his move from the Liberty Stadium, and at times, it has been debatable whether or not he has what it takes to play for a club like City. Pellegrini will hope his side can replicate the kind of form they showcased midweek, and can be encouraged with the improving form of Raheem Sterling. “We hope he’ll be fit for Arsenal”.

For all new punters hoping to win big this weekend, Coral are offering a sensational 8/1 price on Manchester United and City both winning their respective Saturday games in the Premier League.

For someone who is dubbed a “poor finisher”, he’s managed eight goals in his 22 appearances for his new club. The most important thing is for him to work every day with important players like David Silva, Aguero and Yaya Toure and improve.

“There are so many things we can talk about, but the talking has to stop when the players cross that white line”. “He’s not just a striker but one of his targets must be to improve the amount of goals he scores every season”.

“I always use the example of when I was at Malaga – everyone wanted Malaga but we did very well – we won’t have an easy match”. “He can’t be a player that just scores 11 goals as he did another season”.

“I think he can be an impact in the starting 11 or on the bench”, Pellegrini said.

Argentine centre half Martin Demichelis is available again.

Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta are also set to return to training next week, though Pellegrini does not expect defensive midfielder Fernando to return until just before the festive fixtures begin in earnest.
