All passengers were able to exit the flight.

A Frontier Airlines flight was traveling from Columbus, Ohio, to Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport when the animal got free on Tuesday night, an airport spokeswoman said.

Oliver says the passenger broke policy by not informing the airline that he was bringing a service animal onboard, and then refused to turn over documents verifying the monkey’s status.

Nunnery said she did not know what type of monkey it was, before adding that it had not been smuggled onto the plane.

The flight departed from Columbus at 9:43 p.m. and landed in Las Vegas at 11:02 p.m.

According to a spokesperson with the airport, the monkey is an emotional support service animal and the passenger who owns the monkey had all the required paperwork to have the monkey on board. These animals are generally used to help people with disabilities.

“The monkey was never loose in the cabin”, Frontier spokesman Richard Oliver told the Las Vegas Review-Journal Wednesday. At this time it is not clear whether the passenger will face legal consequences for stowing his monkey aloft.
