Also in the auto were Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.

In a tragedy that will reach way beyond Nebraska and through all of college football, Nebraska punter Sam Foltz died early Sunday in a auto accident in Wisconsin. He remembered recruiting Sadler, a former Forest Hills Northern student, and said he knew his family well.

The three were at a kicking camp when the crash happened. He was transported by ambulance to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment. The fiery crash, in a wooded, rural area of Wisconsin, left Delahoussaye with second-degree burns on his left leg, stitches to his head and bruising around his hips and chest.

Delahoussaye’s father, Dwayne Delahoussaye, flew to Wisconsin Sunday to be with his son and help him return, Bridgette Delahoussaye said. The vehicle he was driving lost control on wet pavement and struck a tree. Mannie said Sadler earned undergraduate and master’s degrees at the school in less than four years and never appeared to get down on himself.

LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, 21, sustained minor injuries in the crash on Saturday night in Merton, Wisconsin.

“Sam and Mike each had awesome careers as student-athletes in the Big 10 Conference, but more importantly, they were tremendous men off the field”, camp director Jamie Kohl said in a statement.

On Twitter, players used the hashtag #RIP27, which signified Foltz’s number.

A limited number of single-game tickets to the season-opening game against LSU at Lambeau Field will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“We thought maybe we had beaten them home”, Meyer said, “that maybe the Global Positioning System took them on a different route that was a little longer”.

While also developing into an All-America candidate on the field and a finalist for the Academic Heisman in the classroom, Sadler’s self-deprecation made him a fan favorite. That is not the objective of this. It is just to be together.

Meyer and Brown arrived at the Meyer home first and called the others to see where they were.

Sadler pulled away first, with Foltz and Delahoussaye, and relied on Global Positioning System. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio and Riley posted their thoughts on Sadler and Foltz, respectively. “He was one of those people that brightened your day”. “I always say to try and be a light, and he truly was a light in this world”. They represented what we love about college football the most. The world will be a sadder and lonelier place without Mike Sadler in it. “May he rest in peace”. Medical authorities pronounced both dead at the scene.

Nebraska coach Mike Riley released a statement on Foltz: “Last night, we lost one of the best young men who I have ever had the honor to coach and who has ever worn the Nebraska uniform”.

Clement was on the list last season but missed most of the year due to a sports hernia and finished with just 221 yards and five touchdowns on 48 carries.

Some high school players want nothing to do with Penn State because of the ugly stories circulating about Sandusky’s time as a Paterno staff member. We welcome the Spartan family. “And that’s the reason his impact will be felt by everyone who knew him for years to come”. Foltz grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska.
