Services Set for Wisconsin Native Killed in Chattanooga

Walker originally ordered the flags in Wisconsin lowered after Holmquist was one of five killed at an operational support center in Tennessee earlier this month.

A visitation for 25-year-old Carson Holmquist is scheduled to take place at Grantsburg High School from 11am-1pm, where he played football before joining the Marines.

Gov. Scott Walker has canceled two presidential campaign stops to attend the visitation and private funeral that follows. The Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Homes & Crematory out of Webster, Wisconsin has posted Carson Holmquist’s obituary online.

He is survived by his parents, wife and 2-year-old son.

Also Friday, the family of Sergeant Thomas Sullivan met the casket containing his body at Bradley worldwide Airport in Connecticut. He earned several medals and honors, including the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, a Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, and two Sea Service Deployment ribbons. Carson Holmquist, who was killed in the Chattanooga terrorist attack of July 16, CNN reported. He saw the gunman in last week’s attack and warned people around him, family members said, but was unable to get away.
