Sgt. Smith, 55, was one of five officers gunned down in an ambush on law enforcement a week ago in downtown Dallas. “Please keep all police, in Dallas and across America, in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the consequences of that awful night, ” his family said.
The gunman, Micah Johnson, 25, who was later blown up by a bomb delivered by a police robot, said he was upset about the recent shootings and wanted to kill white police officers.
The final funeral will be held for Patrick Zamarripa at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, in Fort Worth at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Thousands crammed into The Potter’s House church in Dallas for Thompson’s service on Wednesday.
Ahrens’ funeral will take place in Plano.
He said the officers were killed while “upholding the constitutional rights of this country”.
