‘Sesame Street’ vets axed, actor says

‘Sesame Street’ put 3 cast members on the chopping block! But the change that’ll hurt nostalgic grownups will be the absence of human characters Bob, Gordon and Luis, played by Bob McGrath, Roscoe Orman and Emilio Delgado, respectively.

This past January, “Sesame Street”, which has gone from an hour to a half-hour, debuted on HBO.

McGrath, 84, has been with the show since it started in 1969.

Roscoe Orman joined the cast in 1974, becoming the fourth actor to play Gordon, the patriarch of the Robinson family, after Garrett Saunders, Matt Robinson, and Hal Miller.

“Since the show began, we are constantly evolving our content and curriculum, and hence, our characters, to meet the educational needs of children”, the tweeted statement said. In audio released by the Muppet Cast podcast, he also praised castmembers Alan Muraoka and Chris Knowings, who will remain on the show.

The actors known for playing Bob, Luis and Gordon on Sesame Street will not appear in HBO’s new, shortened version of the iconic pre-school series. The deal lasts five years and it’s unclear what will happen to the show after that period. They were three of the friendliest people in the neighborhood!

A veteran star of “Sesame Street” is saying today’s story is brought to you by the letter “F” – for “fired”. Other adjustments include cutting the show from an hour to a half-hour, premiering the newest episodes on HBO for nine months before they’re made available elsewhere, and changing the focus of the episodes to topics such as “self-regulation” and “executive function”.
