Seth Meyers Really Let Donald Trump Have It Over His Birther Lies
After playing the clip where Trump finally admitted that Obama was born in the US, Colbert said, “That’s what I call a firm grasp of the obvious”. No, Meyers said this is the real Donald Trump and that’s the disturbing reality. More recently, Trump and his surrogates have falsely claimed his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, first suggested that then-Senator Obama wasn’t a US citizen during her primary campaign against him in 2008.

Obama produced his long-form birth certificate in 2011 that proved he was born in Hawaii.
“Obama was born in the United States. F-k you. Exclamation point”, Meyers shouted.
Over the course of a 10-minute segment, Colbert repeatedly called Trump a liar without directly saying so, using clips of Trump himself saying “liar” and “world-class liar” and talking in exasperated tones about Trump’s bogus birtherism claims in a Friday news conference. Colbert shouted. “We’re not insane”.
“The bottom line is this: Trump built his career on a racist lie because he’s a racist and a liar, and instead of denouncing that lie, the GOP doubled-down on it completely”, he continued. Because all this went on, Colbert pointed out, while “I was alive and on TV”.
The most alarming claim from Trump was “I finished it, and you know what I mean”, which caused Colbert to exclaim in frustration. He even played the video that Trump made for Obama back in 2012, in which Trump promised that if the president released his college records and applications, he would donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choosing.
You see, Fallon, ever the inoffensive showman, conducted a softer-than-baby-thighs interview with Donald Trump earlier this week that drew the ire of the left for humanizing the inhuman, with the former SNLer serving up softball questions and fiddling with the hair of a reality show host turned racist birther turned full-on xenophobe who has come dangerously close to the presidency.
“Here’s the deal. You don’t get to flog this issue for five years and then act like you’re correcting everybody else”, Colbert said.
