Seth Rogen and Ricky Williams talk weed with Bill Simmons

Ricky Williams loves his reefer.

Speaking with Simmons, Williams revealed that he believes that the NFL’s strong stance on marijuana use held him back from reaching his full potential on the field.

“For sure, no doubt about it”, Williams responded.

“I look at the first half of my career when it was pretty much a secret, know one knew that I used and I could do it as I wished”.

It’s hard to argue with Williams, who retired in 2004 only to come back in 2005, was suspended in 2006 for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, then played in only one game in 2007.

Williams, a Heisman Trophy victor at Texas, led the league in rushing with 1,853 yards in 2002. “Also the negative media coverage I got really tarnished my image”.

“The last part of my career I would have started and gotten more touches”, Williams said. As it is right now, 11 seasons and over 10,000 yards.

“I think a lot of the time the National Football League gets the blame, but it’s something that’s negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement”, Williams said.

“It comes down to players saying, “we would rather have more money” and the owners use the drug policy to make us give up other things”.

Watch Simmons’ interview with Rogen and Williams below, which also includes a bonus story of the time Rogen ate mushrooms before going to the movies. Both Williams and Rogen are against synthetic marijuana but were all about sharing their edible marijuana experiences, including pot-infused stir fry and an all-you-can-eat weed food buffet in high school.
