Severe thunderstorm watch in effect
The first Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwest Iowa came at 11:52 pm, and was for O’Brien, Cherokee, Clay, and Buena Vista counties, warning of the potential for 70 mile-per-hour winds.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms which have developed in upper MI state are expected to track eastwards and could impact the Sault Ste Marie area early this afternoon.
Current information suggests severe thunderstorms could fire up in MI and track into southwestern Ontario.
The concern for severe weather is greater east of US-131, where additional daytime heating combined with the timing of the frontal passage will trigger stronger storms.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all of the Northern Lower Peninsula until 6 p.m. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
