Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Frederick County
“A few storms will be strong to severe with damaging winds, heavy rain and hail”.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 pm for parts of Maine, New Hampshire, northern/central Vermont and northern NY.
The one saving grace for the Boston region is that the greatest risk for the stormy weather is western and north central MA and northern CT.
“Remember, if you can hear thunder you’re close enough to be struck by lightning”, the NWS warned in its alert. Cape Cod should actually stay storm-free for the day, with perhaps some weakening showers during the evening.
Skies will clear on Tuesday with the rest of the week looking to be sunny and warm, with daytime highs in the mid-80s.
These storms will continue to move toward western MA, where we’ve had plenty of sunshine, lots of heat and humidity and the storms will strengthen. Heat indices could be around 100 degrees each afternoon and potentially around 105 degrees Saturday afternoon. All together, the amount of rain this week will likely total no more than half an inch.
The forecast notes the line is “more of a broken line of storms so not every location will see a storm”.
Thursday evening also is expected to bring a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
