Severe Weather for Holiday Travels
Severe weather that spawned tornadoes in the southern United States, killing at least seven and injuring up to 40, was expected to diminish on Thursday, the US National Weather Service said in a statement on its website. It doesn’t really feel like Christmas Eve with highs in the mid-70s today!
The weather could include severe storms with damaging winds and hail.
Storm Prediction Center meteorologist Matt Mosier says a preliminary report shows that there were 14 tornadoes to touchdown in MS on Wednesday.
Parts of the Chicago area could see some severe weather just before Christmas. The wet weather should thin out in coverage early Saturday and there is a good chance many locations will enjoy an extended period of dry weather. As the upper energy with this storm system begins to pull north of the Valley overnight, storms should become less intense.

Additional heavy rain and thunderstorms move in for Sunday and Monday. Up to two inches of total rainfall are expected over the weekend for the Houston area, with higher expectations in more northern regional counties. I will have another update at 5 and 6 and also be sure to check out our First Alert Weather App for updates throughout the holiday weekend!
