A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 11:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 2), and is in effect until 12:45 a.m., for Monroe County.
ComEd reported that 38,000 customers were affected from outages after the storm rolled through.
Storms are tracking southeast toward Long Prairie with potential baseball-sized hail, but these storms will start to collapse and will not reach the Metro.
Windy conditions continue with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
With severe weather looming in the forecast this weekend, we look back at the severe weather season so far in KELOLAND.
The national weather agency says it will likely send investigators to the area on Monday to survey the damage. Our atmosphere is still unstable so a few strong, scattered storms are possible this afternoon, but this evening is when the bulk of the activity is expected. The highest threat for severe weather is from Rockford and to the east into the Chicago metro. They will be capable of producing very strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
