Emergency responders are also encouraging schools and businesses to activate their internal plan or at least discuss what they would do if this is an actual tornado.
The tornado reached its greatest width as it approached the Mississippi River, where the weather service measured a width of 0.6 miles. Make sure to include a 3-day supply of non-perishable food and bottled water.
Survivors who have weather-related issues with their MHU should contact the maintenance hotline at 800-335-8546. During the drill, the National Weather Service will send out a real-event code of TOR, which will activate tone-alert weather radios that are set to receive tornado warnings.
The first tornado on February 28th touched down near Perryville, crossed the Mississippi River near Rockwood, Illinois and traveled through northern Jackson County, finally ending just southwest of Christopher, Illinois. Because of this, many of us will be under a Red Flag Warning or Fire Weather Warning starting at 11 AM.
Families and individuals should have an emergency plan that outlines what they will do if they have to shelter in place because of severe weather and what they will do if they have to evacuate during severe weather.
